Uniform & Dress Code

Uniform GUIDELINES

Life Preparatory School wishes to maintain the standards of dress and appearance appropriate to serious academic pursuits. The Uniform Policy (see below) encourages pride in self, concern for others, and pride in School. All students are required to wear the uniform as designated by LPS before the beginning of the School year or the communicated date.

Girls & Boys must wear a uniform ordered through the school every school day unless otherwise informed (field days, field trips, etc.) All uniform items must be ordered through Life Preparatory School’s designated uniform provider, School Uniforms by Tommy Hilfiger. Items embroidered outside of our provider will be considered a violation of the dress code.

  • Boys & Girls Polo Colors | White, navy, and black. (Ordered through LPS) If a student is wearing a polo, two buttons must be clasped at all times throughout the school day and their shirt must be tucked in. Boys in 2nd through 10th Grade are required to wear a belt.

  • Boys & Girls Pants and Shorts  (Permitted Colors) | Navy, khaki, and black.

  • Girls may wear the following: Jumpers, polo dresses, skirts, and long & short sleeve polos. (Ordered through LPS)

  • Fridays & Activity Days Dress Code: Regular LPS Uniform or Navy Blue LPS T-Shirt with plain blue jean pants. Shorts. rips, or any other designs are not permitted. (Ordered through LPS)

  • Boys & Girls Physical Education Uniform (5th-12th Grade Only): LPS Gray T-Shirt or regular school uniform with black mesh gym shorts and athletic shoes. (Shirt and shorts must be ordered through LPS) Cleats are not permitted for physical education use.

    ACCESSORIES & GROOMING

  • Hair: All students should keep their hair clean, well groomed, and worn in a style that is not in any way extreme. Hair accessories for girls must be secure and non-distracting. If a child in an upper grade level dyes their hair, it must be neutral in color. Only temporary dyes are permitted for specific theme days that have been approved by our administration and must be washed out the next school day.

  • Shoes/Footwear: Closed-toe, and neutral in color. Bright colored shoes, neon shoes, and sandals or flip-flops/crocks will not be permitted as a part of the dress code. Rain boots or other cold weather wear are permitted but it is recommended to bring shoes that are appropriate for activities.

  • Backpacks: Students have the freedom to use backpacks and lunch-bags of their choice. However, backpacks with anything offensive, scary, or mature will not be accepted. Students are expected to have their items labeled, and keep them neat and organized throughout the school year. Please choose an appropriately sized backpack for their grade level and encourage students to keep backpacks organized and neat.

  • Accessories & Undergarments: Boys must wear belts with a tucked in polo shirt. Girls must wear bloomers/shorts underneath all dresses/skirts. Jewelry is not recommended as it may be lost during student activities. Students can have their necklaces tucked into polos if it becomes distracting throughout the school days. Any earrings worn must be studs (non-dangling) as they may be lost or tugged on during student activities.

  • Jackets & Outerwear: The LPS Uniform includes a number of jackets and zip-up sweatshirt options with our logo crest. Hoodies that cover the uniform will not be permitted as a part of the dress code unless they are our branded sweatshirts/pullovers that can be purchased on our store through Uniforms By Tommy Hilfiger. Students are not allowed to wear hoods during any classroom time. All jackets and outerwear need to be labeled with your student’s name.

  • Hats: Hats are not permitted to be worn on campus. They will be permitted for field days and field trip activities.

School Uniform Policy

All students enrolled at Life Preparatory School will be required to wear the school’s designated uniform throughout the school year. There is significant empirical evidence that students who wear uniforms to school are more disciplined. A recent study determined that, “for countries where students wear school uniforms, students listen significantly better; there are lower noise levels and lower teaching waiting times with classes starting on time” (Baumann & Krskova, 2016). The uniform that our team created in partnership with School Uniforms by Tommy Hilfiger is comfortable for all-day wear, is suited to Florida weather, and is multi-functional. The uniform’s classic design serves as a visual representation of the scholastic excellence and spiritual integrity that our students exemplify.
