Health & Wellness Policy

Our Policy

The health and safety of our students remain our highest priority, and we thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. Our Health & Wellness Policy is reviewed regularly and is available at lifepreparatory.school.

If a student is kept home due to this policy, teachers will work with them to ensure they stay on track with assignments, while also ensuring parents are following our attendance policies. We rely on parents and guardians to make informed decisions regarding their child’s health and safety.

Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact our front office at (352) 488-8850 or email the principal at gbecerril@lifepreparatory.school.

Contagious Illnesses

If you or someone in your household is experiencing flu or flu-like symptoms, we strongly recommend keeping your child home until they are no longer showing signs of illness.

Per school policy, if your child has a fever of 99.5°F or higher, they must remain home until they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.

If your child attends school while exhibiting symptoms and meets this criterion, a parent or guardian will be contacted and required to pick up the child from school. If school administration sends a student home due to an elevated fever, the student may not return to school until they have been fever-free for a minimum of 24 hours. The initial absence related to the fever will be excused.

Any additional absences must be supported by a note from a parent/guardian or a healthcare provider in accordance with our attendance policy.

Head Lice

If your child is confirmed to have lice, they may not return to school until 48 hours after treatment to ensure all lice have been fully eliminated. A note from a physician is required to excuse the absence.

If your child is suspected to have lice and is sent home or kept home, we ask that you seek medical guidance. The absence will be excused with documentation from a physician.

Medical Confidentiality
We respect the privacy of our teachers & staff, for this reason, the decision for any staff member or teacher to receive the Covid-19 vaccination is left up to the individual staff member. This information is not required to be reported to our administrative staff and will not be given out if requested by parents of students.

Safety & Security

If it is important to you, it is certainly important to us, and at Life Preparatory School, the safety and security of each person if our highest priority. On our campus building, in addition to full property lighting and surveillance cameras, we also have a secure entry at every level, gated fencing, a fully enclosed playground and outdoor lunch area, on-site supervision, and a secure check-in system for all students, and adults entering the building. No child will ever be left unattended at any time during school hours or in our before and after student care programs. We have staff on each campus who are permitted to carry and have gone through the proper trainings. The decision for any staff member to carry is left up the individual staff member. This information is confidential and will not be given out if requested by parents of students.

Classrooms
Each classroom has been carefully designed with attention to detail, including color schemes, traffic flow, and the arrangement of desks and tables, among other elements. Every well-lit classroom fosters a strong environment for learning.

Smaller class sizes, averaging between 12–35 students per classroom, allow teachers to provide more individualized attention during instruction. In classrooms with more than 20 students, teaching assistants are also provided to support learning.

All classrooms are equipped with modern technology, including smart boards, and most also feature iPads or laptops to enhance instruction and student engagement.

Playground

Our 6.4-acre property allows each child to have ample play area while under supervision. Our playground is located in a secure fenced in area for multiple outdoor breaks per day.
